Meet the Library Staff

Kimberly Montiel, Librarian
Welcome to the Washington Library! My name is Kimberly Montiel and I have taught in Wichita Public Schools since 2007 in both second and third grades. I was also the Stanley Librarian for 2 years. I have the pleasure of seeing and teaching every student once or twice a week in the library. As your child's teacher-librarian, he/she will learn lifelong skills in information literacy, digital citizenship, and reading!
The library is the heart of our school. It is my intention to create a safe, positive, and organized environment in the library. We will learn to find joy in books and reading every day. We will also be challenged with engaging, rigorous, relevant, and standard-based lessons. My goal is to build a community of strong and independent readers, information seekers, and technology producers.
We will have a great year growing as library users and lifelong learners!
Guide to Book Care
- Keep your books in a safe place.
- Return your books on time.
- Do not eat or drink while reading library books.
- Wash and dry your hands before reading library books.
- Keep books away from pets and little ones. They do not know how to take care of books!
- Never draw or write in a library book!
- Always use a bookmark!
- If the library book has been damaged, bring it to your librarian. They will repair it if they can. DO NOT REPAIR THE BOOK YOURSELF! Your librarian has the right tools and training to fix books.
- If you lose your book or it is damaged while in your care, you will need to pay to replace it. Talk to your librarian.
